If you are reading this you probably thought I seriously needed some help.
Funny thing is it isn't all that serious at all in the means of needing emergency help for a chicken or other animal in my care.
It is a serious issue for getting you the help you need when an animal in your care is in need of some intervention ASAP.
How about when we have an issue instead of filling the titles with HELP and lots of !!!!! we title the thread to reference the issue at hand?
For example -

Serious injury - Predator Attack - need ER help fast
So many times I have opened the screaming help threads to find the issue is not an emergency at all and is often something dealing with basic care that can easily be found using the search feature or scanning the ER section.
If it is not a true emergency why are there so many HELP!!! threads?? Yes, I do know to some people every issue is an emergenc and to those new to the world of chickens things seem to demand immediate atten and seem larger than life. Being in a crisis is scarey business. Even for me.
When posting an issue on the board for help we need very detailed information to be able to offer any help at all.
Also keep in mind none of us that offer help are licensed Vets and we cannot hand out medical advise for your animals. We could be held liable for practicing medicine without a license.
If it is not an emergency please do not continue to title the threads as such. If it is a medical issue please make sure all the information that could possibly needed is in the opening thread.

Give us the following information. The more you tell us, the better we will be able to help you.
1) What type of bird , age and weight.
2) What is the behavior, exactly.
3) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.
4) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.
5) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.
6) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.
7) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?
8 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?
9) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.
10) Describe the housing/bedding in use
Remember that we are not veterinarians. We help based on our own research and experiences. We cannot monitor the board 24/7, and therefore do not guarantee we can always help, much as we would wish to.
We should never be a replacement if real medical attention is required.
If your situation seems to require a trip to the vet, please do so. It is always a good idea to know of an avian vet in your area in case your situation is bad enough that we cannot help. We encourage you to visit the Reference Forum and read up there before you need the information.
