Treats for Ducks?

Wingnut1, over on page 1, gave me an idea with the snail story. I LOVE collecting Hosta plants and the slugs love eatting them.

Well, the funnest, most environmentally friendly way of ridding my plants of them is to wait until dark, after a nice warm rain, and gather them off the plants. You can even track the little boogers with their slime trails. I announce to the children that we are going slug hunting and out comes flashlights, and bamboo shish-kabob sticks (they are icky to touch so we pick them off the leaves with the sticks). Normally I place them in a cup thats got lots of salt to kill them. (Yeah, I'm roothless when it comes to my Hostas.) Anyway, I'm going to attempt to gather them and save them for the ducks to eat off the end of the shish-kabob sticks....boys, that should be treats, entertainment and pest control all rolled into one.

Nettie, won't you and David join us?

We have 2 Mallards that are going on 2 weeks old. My question is when can you start giving treats(at what age)? My other question is about Molting. When do they start molting and what do we feed them wile there molting? I have read that you increase niacin in there diet . where do we get that? We are feeding them a starter/grower with 20% protein now they are doing really good. Last question when do you start adding Apple Cider Vinegar to there water for general health and well being? and How much?

I read about snacks for ducks and i see pumpkin is on the good list but i see seeds are bad.... we are carving our halloween pumpkin tonight, and i was wondering do I give them the 'guts' with seeds or do i just give them the fruit? cooked or raw?
