Ok, I am a little confused on my 3 GLW chicks.  I thought they were all supposed to have rose combs, but one looks like it had a single comb. (It also has waddles, at 3 weeks. Maybe a male)  I've never had a male Wyandotte before. Are their combs any different ? They all have the same markings, and are the same size.  Could it be a male ?  (I hope so)

If it has waddles at 3 weeks it is most likely a male, but you never really know, if you post a picture it might be easier for some of us to try and tell. And GLW Golden laced wyandottes right? THey dont have rose combs they have pea combs. Close but not the same look up the difference you might be able to tell. If it has a single comb it might be a mix of some sort. Where did you get them?

I picked up 4 californian rabbits. I brought them home and one of them wasn't doing very well. She was breathing funny and wouldn't move very well. This morning I woke up and she/he was dead. I just got her last night and now the person I bought them from won't get back to me. I keep sending texts, emails, calls. And they wont get back to me. I hate people like that. I had that happened once with a chicken I sold and I gave them a new one upon an agreement that they requested (they wanted a new chicken). It all worked out in that case, but people who dont even get back to you, that is just bad. The other 3 seem to be doing ok. I have an enclosed chicken coop with no outdoor run that I have no chickens in right now, so I put some rabbits in it. I have 8 total in there (2 dwarf mixes, 2 dwarf himalayans, 3 californians, and 1 broken blue mix who may possibly be pregnant! I Sold a bunch of rabbits at auctions, and swaps, and through other advertisements. I have some left to sell at the 2 swaps this weekend in Augusta and Wilton. I cant wait!

I got them at TSC.  I hope it is a male because I have 2 female GLW's.  I bought them as sexed pullets, hahahaha.  I'd take a pic, but my chickens NEVER hold still when I ant them to.

well they do say that they are only 90% gauranteed pullets so you never know, but if it has a single comb looking it is probably mixed, because glws dont even have rose combs they have pea combs

I hope in your case that is a rooster, and you get to have a nice trio of golden laced wyandottes. They are very pretty birds. But if it is a mix, I bet he/she will still look pretty just not match your hens, and you never know with chicks especially from hatcheries.  Good luck!

sorry tayfray, wyandottes do not have peacombs, the standard is rosecombs but the picture you posted has a long leader on the comb, which wyandottes do not have and are pentilzed for. The breed of chicken called Rosecombs (and that is the picture you posted) is correct with the leader for that breed.

wyandottes do occasionally have straight combs and they are not a bad thing, they just can't be shown. there are fertility issues related to the rosecomb and by using straight combed birds, this improves.

if you are seeing red comb at 4 weeks, pretty good idea it's a boy, they pink up fast.

here is a link, scroll to the bottom to see wyandotte combs. http://www.wyandottebreedersofamerica.net/wyandottestandard.htm
