Do Cats Eat Chickens?

How do I cat proof my Coop and run? My cats are completely insane and will kill every squirrel, bird, mouse, and rat they can get to, and i'm pretty sure they will attempt to kill my chickens.

Even though this is an old post I want to say for anyone else who finds it on google because they were worried about cats, we have 3 chickens (bantams) that live totally free range in our backyard and roost in the shed and we live in terraced housing with a ridiculous number of cats. Literally there are so many cats that my poor neighbour picked up 2 bags of cat poo from her yard, we are constantly seeing new ones we've never seen before, but not one of them has had a go at the chickens. However until they were fully grown we couldn't let them free range.
I just wanted to say that because when I was worried about whether I could free range them I read so much about risks cats pose and it all turned out to be fine. However it might be the case that city cats, which all live on cat food, are different to a feral cat in the country.

That is pretty cruel to think your pet is more valuable than the neighbors pet. I bet the neighbor loves that cat, just as my family loves mine. Why not get a rooster instead? I bet that would do the trick.
They do have spay/neuter services but only once a year and only on the rez. That doesn't help with the current population though. It's very sad to see these animals starve.
You should check on-line. Our Pound gives out catch and release traps and has deals with vets around town. I trap the cats, drop them at the vet for a day, and then bring home a spay/neutered cat, FREE. They keep my barn mouse-free, and I don't end up with a huge feral-cat population.

Also there is an organization that supports this financially. Having some cats helps keep other cats from moving in.
