Colored Easter chicks/ducks... UPDATED WITH PICS!!!!!!!!!

Because too many people see the pretty colors, and don't make the connection that it's a living, breathing animal that will need care. These birds are eventually dumped. Animals are NOT toys. If you want something cute and fluffy, buy a stuffed chick.

I couldn't agree more! This process is actually out lawed in lots of states (Thank God) baby chicks need intense care and are NOT hatched as a toy or a photo opportunity for little ones. I do take this seriously because of the gross number of chicks neglected and abused this time of year or made part of a child's Easter basket. Not even getting the opportunity to grow up. Many factors are involved in successfully brooding chicks. most people who purchase them as Easter toys neglect to provide them with what they need to sustain life. These poor babies suffer needlessly and it's heartbreaking. They are not toys.!

You guys saying u want some do know how horribly cruel this is right? They throw them into a bowl throw dye onto them and toss them around like they are nothing. Not to mention the dye in eyes, nose and beaks of these poor chicks and ducks. It's illegal cause it's CRUEL. It's not cute, cool, or amazing to have harshly dyed day old chicks and ducklings.

Preach it! As a chick and duckling lover this is down right gross and anyone that wants to buy and contribute to the abuse are not human in my eyes.

I couldn't agree MORE! We all know everyone saw that video going around fb on how theyes dye baby chick's...it's f*ing horrible. They are a living breathing, FEELING animal. After they get tossed like a **** salad, they are all huddled together and you can't hear anything out of them...that's how frightened they are. I am New to owing chickens, (had to rescue one from the meth head down the street cause she bought chick's for....EASTER) you can't just give these animals to you children as a toy. They need constant heat or they will die, not to mention food, water, etc....I saw this thread and knowing most of us here LOVE our feathered friends, was Appalled to see people endorsing this or asking "where to buy some"...it's like seeing an advertisement for dog fighting on the SPCA site....? The ONLY reason I would buy any of those chick's, would be to rescue them!

BTW
We all havent seen the video on FB. I dont have FB or ever go on FB.
Back in the day they injected dye into the eggs to color chicks. I had to do a search today to see what you all were talking about. That was hard to watch.

@moonshiner...I know not Everyone has seen that video. But I figured since we are posting on a website, that most people here have fb too...of course there are always exceptions to the rule. My point was the cruel and horrible treatment of these VERY young birds all for entertainment for little children that can't possibly take care of an animal. And that it was being perpetuated on a site devoted to the care and wellbeing of said animal.

I got your point.
Just throwing it out there that there are people that dont do FB.
And there are people that dont know how these chicks are colored.
I know it wasnt you that posted but saying someone disgusts you or that theyre not human may be a bit harsh if they are unaware of what these chicks go through.
I dont support this practice and its not legal here so we dont see them around here.
Maybe getting the facts about it out there would do more to stop it then being so cold.
