- Welcome! I too am new to BYC, and I've found that people are very friendly here, and very willing to answer questions. I've learned so much already. I do think however, that BYC people will JINX you... I swore I'd only have my two Silkie chicks, (and I'm only 15 days into chicken ownership) but just the other day someone INFORMED me that he's bringing two Silkie hens to me! He's a 97 year old man, and although I tried several times to kindly tell him no thanks, somehow, he's gotten things figured out in his 97 years, and I'm getting two more chickens.
    LOL!!! ... so good luck with your "two" chickens, and welcome!

welcome from western Kentucky!  Honey, don't you worry about just having two chickens, we can fix that in a hurry.... wink  Seriously though, this is a GREAT place to hang out with like-minded folks who love their chickens & various other critters.  Stay awhile!  (but they aren't kidding; this place is SO SERIOUSLY addictive!!!)  cool

Momma loves her babies!  8 cats, 45 inside birds, 3 guineas,  RIRs, BRs,  BOs ,  Lorpie girls, Golden Comets, OEGB  BBreds, bantam frizzle cochins,  3 white Silkies, EEs, some silkie/cochin mixes, silkie/frizzles, ducks (3 white Pekins, 1 buff Saxony & 1 Silver Appleyard), and 1 Blue Slate turkey who thinks she's a chicken...   (did I miss anyone?...)  Nope!  Now let's all have pie.

I think if you have two birds you especially belong here. This forum is for those that consider their chickens to be more pets than production animals. And that would be you!

You may have only 2 chickens now but, just wait.  I said that I only wanted 6 hens last April.  I now have 10 hens, 1 Roo, 8 3-week-old chicks and 20 2-day-old chicks.  A YAAAA!! You WILL get the chicken addiction!!  Maybe not today, or even this season but it will come for you!  lol

I have some Porcelain D'Uccles, Australorps, Araucana, India Blue Peafowl, Red Golden & Temminck Pheasants, Mandarin ducks, a few Nigerian & Pygmy goats, a couple cats, a DH and a few kids.  Simple and happy.
