Wing clipping

Well we decided to clip and see. We figured we will put the top on and clip but the top netting isn't here so what the heck clipping we went!

At dusk we caught the hens who decided to roost out of the coop, clipped them and put them back where they belonged. It was so nice with everyone back where they wer supoosed to be. We turned to head up the hill and back to the barn and walking beside us was....................A HEN!

We looked behind us and there were her friends!!

I guess we will be getting that netting on as soon as it gets here.

Out of 40 hens or so, I have 10 that intend to get out of that fence no matter what.
My onions now have been set out several times. they dig the things up and flip them 4 feet from the planting site. Im sick of this!
If I take an ax and chop the whole wing off, will this help?

JUST KIDDING.. JUST K IDDING VENTING VENTING.. KIDDING!

Please see the other thread also called "wing clipping". Seeing the photo shown on the link is much clearer as to how trimming should be done than the illustration and I believe since I followed the illustration this is why my hens kept "flying the coop" (or yard, so to speak

No way would I ever clip my bird's wings. Even with leash laws, people let their dogs out at night, or even in the daytime to run, and my birds have been attacked many a time and flight is often their only defence or way of escape. these same people are those who passed the leash law in the first place. I just shoot the ###!!!*** dogs.

I was given a hen and the provisions owners had "clipped" get wings and her tail. It looks horrible and the sharp ends scratch us when we pick her up. How long will it take for her wings and tail to grow back?
