I used to be almost 5'6", but now I 'm about 5'4"-spinal fractures from thinning bones due to years of taking thyroid meds. I weigh a WHOLE lot more than you do, but I betcha I have more muscle mass from running after the chickens and up and down stairs all day long than alot of teensy-tinsey women. And I'm stronger. You are not 1 lb overweight. Period. Just build muscle mass. It weighs more than fat, but it helps boost metabolism overall. After years of chickens and hiking all over this property, I even have muscle in my INNER thighs, LOL, which I never did before. Be active, be healthy and dont focus on weight or you'll look like Nicole Ritchie-she could be a concentration camp victim from Nazi Germany.

Lots of good info here for you.

I would like to add:

Focus on healthy habits, rather than on losing weight.  Build up muscle too by exercising, it will help you feel fit and firm.

Try and not eat processed foods. Chips, cookies, anything that comes from a box.  Stick with whole foods, like fresh fruit and veggies for snacks.   Cut back or stop if you drink pop, even diet.  Lots of water of course.  Cut back or don't eat candy if you can help it. Do this for a few weeks or a month and see the changes.   Little steps can go a long way.

Before long you will most likely grow taller and thin out a bit.  Try and make good choices most of the time and I think it will work out for you.

At the library I am sure they have books for teens that want to be healthy inside and out.

Good Luck to you.  So sorry to hear about your mother.
Steph

Hey there, well, this is what you do...do you have a bicycle?  If not, find one, I got mine for $20 from a yard sale.  Buy some rubbery grippers you would use for hand grips and cut them so they will fit over the middle part of the handle bars...go get your favorite chicken...put her on rubbry grippers and ...away you go. "Rosie" and I go out almost every night. The neighbours think I'm nuts....gez louise....maybe they are right. Rosie loves the ride, and she's so funny, when we really get going, she huddles down and holds on. I'm so into it, I'm buying a new bike in November, got the bike shorts(way easier on the butt), and a bunch of fun accessories. When I figure this site out a little better, I'll post a pic.
Have fun! But, HoneyBun, don't forget to eat!

Silkelover,

100 pounds for a 5'5" frame is underweight. Who on earth told you that you should weigh 100!!???!!! Wow I hope doctor did not tell you that!  ErinM
your but may be a hereditary trait that you cannot change. Do squats and lunges to tone it{ do them properly!} and rejoice in the bountiful butt. Men typically do not enjoy cuddling skin and bones ! even when I was 120 my butt exceeded the rest of me and it was nice and round. My husband stii likes my butt bless him, because it is bigger and rounder now after 2 kids!
your only 13??? then don't worry about what the men like then. jeepers creepers your young and be careful! Diet and weight obsession can turn disastrous for young girls like you!

Baby girl, I think I read where you have not started your monthly period, the curves will come and all of that "baby" fat will melt away, Please don't be in such a rush to grow up, believe me it will come soon enough. Enjoy being a young lady, who doesn't have to worry about a mortgage and a husband and kids to feed and take care of.

Yep you DEFINITELY dont want to be doing ANY kind of  diet ...i had no idea you were not an adult...foreget it kiddo you  are too young to be worrying about your weight or dieting or any such thing...and to be honest with you 120lbs is pretty small in the first place.
