Ok, so question, since there is tornado warnings, and the chickens are just in a chicken tractor, should I bring them in and put them in the garage until it is over?

Not yet, and 1: four months old, 2: three months old and 2 one month old so a total of 5. So far we put a tarp over the top and three sides of the tractor and secured it.

You should be ok as long as they won't drown or float away. fl.gif

Back when we had a chicken tractor (& only 3 birds instead of....33)! we went through the hurricanes by driving 4 t-posts around the perimeter of the tractor & securing it with trucking straps. Worked beautifully!

10 laying hens, 7 Welsummer chicks, 6 Cuckoo Marans chicks, 7 peacocks, 3 guineas, 3 dogs, 2 "official" cats & 2 more who just showed up & stayed, 1 green parakeet & 1 retired-but-stays-busy husband!

We folded a tarp in half, put it over the top, and 3 sides, put cinder blocks on the top and around the edges of the tarp on the ground. The girls (I hope are all girls)  went inside during the rain and did fine. One of the bigger ones has been sitting on the two babies, I guess they have been cold, lol For a hurricane, I will probably just bring the tractor into the garage...

Ok, so I picked up one of them and was petting her, when I put her down, I found a couple of little red bugs on me. I haven't taken the protection off of the tractor yet so I can't see if they came from her, but could that be mites? Do I need to treat them for it?
