Calling all you Louisiana Turkey owners!

When your girls hatch a batch of poults, are they all the same color?  I have a pair of turkeys, a pure chocolate female and what I think is a Blue Red Bronze tom.  So far I have hatched black, silver, blue, and bronze poults from these eggs!  I', loving all the colors, but I would like to know what they will grow up to look like.  The parents looked so similar that I thought the poults would all be chocolatey bronze.  I was WAY off on that one!

As much as I like them in the house, they do smell... and the bigger the chicks get, the smellier they get!

I sure would like to go to this one, but my friend is getting married that day. sad.png  Is it only held annually?

Edited - Weird.  I quoted Baralak's (sp?) post about the Monroe swap/expo but it didn't pull over.

I know this is only the 2nd one they have done. Last one was last spring. There was talk of doing them in the spring and fall, but that hasn't happened yet. I would love to go, but Monroe is way too far. I hope they can do the next one a little more centrally for everyone in the state. The LA Equine Expo is up in Monroe as well, so I never get to attend as it is just too far to go.

Well... As stated before, we can have an event any time, any where... by using the power of the website louisianachickens.com, sponsors are eager to get their products to these types of events so that everyone gets to look and feel it, however without a lot of activity on the site, it becomes stale..  For example if we had 10 posts daily on that site,  I could show that the site has over 3k unique visits plus the folks that look and don't post. So say someone in Lake Charles wants to host a louisianachickens.com event, I would send out mailers and gain sponsors for the event.  All it takes is use.

I hope to see some of you this year.. I know that Missi is coming, and I know Julie can't come this year.  I was hopeing to see everyone from last year, but I understand with almost 4 buck gas.

Joe
