Julie, not sure if we're gonna be coming to the swap this weekend. Only have 30 Speckled Sussex chicks left so I'm hoping I can get rid of them soon!!

They are as bad as the RIRs I got back in December 2012. As far as they go, they ran a goose that was setting on eggs OFF of her nest. barnie.gif

I will definitely let you know. If you are looking for a well-mannered RIR, then MY pullets are NOT the pullets for you. They are bullies !!!! somad.gif I don't know what I'm going to do with the reform school rejects. They are so terrible, until I'm afraid of them. somad.gif

I CANNOT imagine hatching that many out! I'd lose it for sure!! I can imagine the frustration!

The RIR Roo we have is quite a mean lil' thing. We are trying, unsuccessfully, to put some weight on him to cook him up.

I was terrified of chickens before we got some. Since raising the babies, I've gotten better about it. They're almost like my kids. My hubby thinks it hilarious that the kiddos and I pick the clover leaves one by one and feed em. There's even 2 that think they're parrots! Our oldest son carries them around on his shoulder when he's out there. LOL Just waiting for the day he gets shat on... I know its gonna happen eventually.

Thanks for your kindness! I was a little worried at first, just because of the unknown, I suppose. But your insight is greatly appreciated! :D

I seem to always be playing catch-up!  Congrats to everyone on all the babies (chicks, turkeys, geese, lambs)!  I love seeing all the pictures.

Chris - the pics of your little girl and the horses are adorable!  Did a photographer take them or are you that good with the camera?

Welcome to all new members!

My Basque chicks and BLRWs are really growing! They are 7 weeks now.  I know I've got 5 cockerels from the Basques.  I have quite a few from the BLRWs, but I am having a harder time identifying some of those.  There are a few who are unquestionably boys (bright red combs and wattles long enough to flap lol), but some of the others....? Can anyone chime in and let me know when I can be certain?

I need to start making some hard decisions about which boys to keep and trying to find the others new homes.  Most of them are so incredibly tame that freezer camp just isn't an option.  idunno.gif My boys play with the birds every day. Sigh.
