What is that? a Scovie? NOOOO!!!!!!

Well Terri, I have some VERY sad news to report. YES, that is a SCOVIE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After I got the call on yesterday telling me this little baby was roaming in the road, I got VERY nervous and tried to wreck my brain as to where did this little baby come from. Well, I got home and to my surprise a Muscovy hen had laid a nest of eggs about 3 feet from the back fence of the chicken yard. She was so hidden in the woods, I would have never found her. I don't know how many eggs she had laid but she hatched 5 babies. The one in the pic appeared to have been the last one that hatched. It was weak and had some fur missing. There was another one that had walked a LONG way from the wooded area and ended up in the chicken yard. I assume that it was following the mother when she got off of the nest to eat and it made it's way in with the rest of the animals. We were able to get her to walk away from the wooded area, down the road, into the chicken yard and into a stall. I took the weak baby duckling and placed it under a hen. It was cold and the mama wasn't ready to set and let the babies get under her. She was busy eating and drinking. I checked on the baby duckling this morning but it didn't make it. It was too weak. The other babies and mom are doing good. I think she has 5 babies.
I guess she outsmarted me. She knew that I didn't want them to hatch any babies but she had her own plan in mind.

I'll try to post pics of the babies tomorrow.
In addition to her having a nest, I have yet ANOTHER turkey hen that set up camp in the SAME bush in the front of the house as the last hen.

I happened to be standing near the bush and something caught my attention. I looked in the bush and THERE SHE WAS SITTING ON ABOUT 20 TURKEY EGGS!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think I"m going to make it this summer. I'm stressed out with all of these animals !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
