Thank you for the compliment flower........yup, I like to try to save the world.....one critter at a time.  love

Mr. roo will live at the stables until he finds a home....however long it takes. I am his guardian now [cuz I decided that LOL]
I let him out today while I was taking care of my horse and he just stood looking around figuring out all the new stuff.  I have two other roos that are under my care....Squawky the EE roo and Limpy the AGF roo [he is so named because he only has one useable leg]. Both boys have adopted me too and hang out around my horses stall.  They get MY food from home and treats too! love

I live is Huntington Beach.  I have a Silkie Rooster a barred rock hen and an Ameraucana hen.  They are all 8 months old and my hens are laying.  They have a homemade coop and a huge run off the garden.  I have a 2 year old son and the chickens love eating all of his leftovers and all of the compost.  They are great fertilazers and have helped my get the garden ready for the next season.  We have raised them since they were a week old and they are the sweetest animals.  Is anyone else from Orange County?

Hi Folks,

I mainly hang out in the San Diego thread but am hoping someone here might be interested in my cockerels. I have two 27-week old Ameraucanas that I would like to re-home. Wickham is a wheaten and is in my avatar. He's alpha. Willoughby is a blue wheaten. They're both shy of people, but not aggressive. Wickham definitely is showing signs of being a good roo. He does the treat call and gets concerned when his girls are in the nest box. Willoughby is more flighty. They are both beautiful, but I have only 4 girls and they (especially one hen) are getting overbred.

This is Willoughby from a couple months ago. He now looks like Wickham, but with blue feathers.

If you're interested, please let me know ASAP. This situation is killing me. My Bridget is just getting too beat up and I can't let it happen anymore.

Thanks.

Just a heads up out there. I live in San Diego and placed an add on Craigslist selling BCMS chicks. I keep getting calls from people looking for roosters. Not just 1 mind you but anywhere from 4 to 10. Now who needs 4 to 10 roos for their small farm? Starting to feel like they are looking for roos for cock fighting. Anyone else feeling this way?

I sell lots of roosters for eating all my culls. Marans are big couldn't fight worth a lick most of the people I sell to live in town where they can't have one. Depending on the dish they are making they have preference to the age I always have requests for over a year old ones I never have many and they pay 10.00 for any age over 5lbs. They taste great just a PITA to process for me and I pay 8.50 per bird to have them done so I use the 5 to 6 month old ones.

It costs less to have the very best. Trying to raise Delawares and Marans I also have Silver Penciled Rocks New Hampshires Midget Whites Bourbons and Royal Palms......home of many APHA horses. Breeder of World Champions and Honor Roll Champions and High Point winners. I love to trail ride and camp with my friends.

I get that feeling too, which is why I didn't place an ad for my cockerel there.
