Central Coast Feather Fanciers! 25th annual show is October 9th & 10th anyone ever been or entered ? I'd like to go and hope to plan for it in advance as I would like to find an Ameraucana Breeder in the area. Now I am not really in the area but live in the outback so I need to travel far and wide for most special events

Hi TinkleTurkey, what kind of chickens do you have? I am just starting (again) and currently have six chicks, two barred rock and the others are EEs. I am just south of you in North Hills. Just curious, are turkeys noisy?

I have friends with animals we trade off feeding and when we're all gone there are people we know who for a fee will come and feed. I have a neighbor who's good to feed too but I have horses and have had people to feed for years....ask someone you trust if they might think about it and have them come over when you do your chores you'd be surprised at the people who would do can be....

My situation may be less complicated than some of you, but I have a neighbor who takes care of my cat and 3 girls when I'm on vacation. Babysitting my clan comes with free eggs, free access to the fruit trees and veggie garden, and a generous gift card as thanks for the peace of mind that a responsible sitter provides.

I have neighbors, two or three that we swap animal care while one of us is on vacation or has to be away. It works out very well since my shepherd is 15 and is terrified to be left in a kennel. She's very happy staying at home with someone to care for her and throw a ball or two before feeding time. My chickens and aviary birds do well with this care also. I care for my neighbors animals, whichever one it is. Last year I took care of one of my neighbors animals and plants while they went to Ireland for 3 weeks. It was a job since she has 7 cats, 2 dogs, a dozen chickens, a pond with 200 fish in it and numerous hummingbird feeders and regular bird feeders besides watering plants. I loved every minute of it since she works with audubon and her property is a designated wildlife area. I had so much fun watching all the different birds and feeding the fish. Her place has more trees than mine or I should say mature trees so there is shade. I have 75 trees but the tallest of mine is only about 14 feet since we've only been here 4 years.
