Help Bottle Feeding a Baby Goat

Well, i never would have thought i would even have a goat in the house. But she is a lot like a puppy. She follows me everywhere *trot* *trot* *trot*. Sometimes she does that little wiggle kick with her back legs. My cats aren't quite sure what to make of her.

She's not officially house-trained, but i can pretty much guess when she's going to pee, so scoot her into her pen or outside. And yes, holding them is so calming!

i've read charts that lay out so many ounces every so many hours the first week, and so on. But i just try to have a bottle at the ready to hold down to her when she head-butts my legs. i figure if she was with her mom she would be drinking pretty much all day long.

Now, last night was the first night of putting her in a covered kennel so i could sleep in bed with my DH. When i got her up this morning, she sucked down 8 ounces really fast (then peed on my cat's blanket on the kitchen floor). So i think taking her outside first thing in the morning will be my new tactic.

It's really helpful to read this thread. I have several goaties due soon, I think and I've heard that bottle feeding makes for a more friendly baby. The ones that were bottle fed do seem more friendly.

Up until last night, I had my 2 month old lamb and my baby goat sleeping in my room at night with me. The lamb was in a big wire dog crate, right next to my bed, so when he woke up every few hours, I'd just pick up his bottle on my night stand and poke it through the crate without even getting out of bed; he's out with the big boys from now on though, so I'll only have Pez, the baby goat with me and I will do the same thing with him.
