Most attractive Egg laying hens? (Brown eggs)

My husband and me have decided we want some egg laying hens a while back when our daughter became interested in Marans. But there is so many we are having a hard time deciding which we would like to have. I want everyone to post a photo of a type of brown egg laying hen that they like most. We enjoy having nice eggs but also want a nice looking hen.

My pick: Speckled Sussex

I don't know what your after though.  The marans lay dark brown eggs and most brown egg layers lay light brown eggs.  If you want dark brown, its welsummers, marans, and barneveldors.  If you simply want brown eggs though, there are a lot of breeds to choose from

I agree.  I don't have any Speckled Sussex but I've admired them as a very pretty brown egg layer.  Wellsummers roos are beautiful but I think the Sussex hens are prettier than the Wellies.  JMO

I am the same way.  I have no speckled sussex though I am going to get a few layers this fall with my big cornish broiler purchase and I am strongly considering getting some speckled sussex with that order.  Great looking birds, especially the roos.

I have seven light brahma packing peanuts that are just adorable.  Do the hens have as much personality as the roos, because they are another attractive brown egg layer that I might consider getting.

It's probably a toss up between my BLRW and BBS wyandottes and my speckled Sussex.

I've got 50+ years of poultry experience, but this 'poultry' forum isn't for me anymore.
If you're going to complain about farmers, don't do it with a full belly or a mouthful.
