Keep in mind, if you need a chicken swap, DH comes home on Friday and heads back down to Chickns end of the pike. We do not mind playing chicken taxi either.  Just make sure you guys email me to let me know.

PS- allmypeeps, yes, Chickn is the one I knew would get you on the right track. Silkies that I've seen are like poof balls that when you lay them on their backs, they relax and often fall asleep. Even while walking around with a young man at a poultry show! And those feet are pretty funky looking!

Thanks for the offer!
I think I would prefer black, splashed or blue... and BEARDED as apposed to non. (here I am getting picky again!) tongue I can't help it. Sorry to be a pain!

What are my chances of finding one of thee above at the stock? and being sure its a 'pullet' rather than a pick out of a straight run... Never been to a chickenstock meet and dont know what to expect.

also my husband seemed in not so many words to put my bird limit at $10...not sure what silkies go for as they are more showy than egg purpose breeds...course being my Bday I'm sure he will break- it was either a chicken or a NEW VACUUM on my wish list and a vacuum is WAY more expensive...LOL!

You all are oh-so helpful! I appreciate it!

e

PS- Its after 9pm and I have literally spent all day bouncing online neglecting my house chores (who can blame me. Let's see...dishes, laundry, sweeping?....or talking about getting a new chickie?....hmmmmm. THATS a no brainer! LOL) This site didnt lie- it IS addicting big_smile

I'm off for the night....but I will hop on tomorrow at some point.

G'night all

Looks like it might wind up looking lighter like this one I've found a pic of:

http://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/uploads/27552_partridge_silkie.jpg

In pics i'm finding that alot of them are either really dark with even darker 'russian caps' lol or that they are really light with grey pants.

Its a female right?

Is it bearded? I think I like them better when their bearded.

Are you sending birds up to Oxford reguardless? or is it depending soley on weather or not I want it? Is this 'deadline sensative'?

does this one look different so far than others you've had- do you think it will be lighter? how can you tell if they will have dark heads?

silkies are not sold sexed as chicks. you have to wait 6 to 8 months to tell.  if you want a pullet you need to look for an adult.

It loks like will turn out lighter than that one, Silkies are very hard to sex, the only thing i can do is really study the bird to guess on what it might turn out to be, but no garenntees. but i do say to others that if they turn out to be a roo i will take back and refund the money that you paid.
