Using Broody Hens to Hatch Eggs?

Another newbie question...do broody hens, once they are sitting, eat/drink or are they one of those creatures who fasts until the eggs hatch?

Hey,

That is totally normal and actually good. Now you know she won't let nobody near her eggs!! lol:) You don't need special room with humidity and stuff just try to keep her away from the other girls:) You should take the eggs around the first day. Let the babies be with her for a day and make sure All of them are done hatching!! The best time to do it to a hen like that is at night. All I do is sneak up very quietly and pick her up and get the chicks or anything you wanted. I like to let the mom raise them her self but sometimes you can't. Oh yea another tip be sure you pick her up off the eggs so she can get feed and water, some hens will not leave the nest for ANYTHING also they don't poop in the nest either so taker out every other day or so!!.

I hope this has helped, If you have any questions or suggestions just ask me!!

Happy Hatching

William
