Brahma Thread - Page 360

Yes, now that I'm learning more and more I know the stock probably is not the best for breeding but would love ideas on what to look for and how to improve what I have.  I'm going to try to get photos of each hen, with any luck I've got a few worth hanging on too.  I don't remember how long my rooster took to mature.  I had 2 roosters but had to give one away, as the bigger of the two was aggressive to him and hurt the smaller, less aggressive one.  He is not aggressive towards me, but was really had on the other rooster.  I've been trying to read this entire thread, as well as the Dorking thread, but it will take me some time, lol.....  It's all about learning and that always take time but glad to know I've found a place to ask questions and get ideas.

One more day and my chicks should be hatching. I have waited years for these varieties. Now I'll have my own. I can't wait!

I can never have too many chickens. The large breeds are my favorite and I have a weakness for Brahmas.

Nikkipar that has happened to me in the past. I hope it doesn't mess up the rest of the eggs.

Hello,

I am fairly new to Brahmas and doing my best to be a good steward of the breed.  Some of my light brahma babies about a month old are getting very fluffy around the hocks.  They are soft flexible feathers not stiff.  Am I right that these are not vulture hocks?  Just making sure, I don't want to keep any with that feature.  Also what age are vulture hocks the most easily seen.

Thanks
