is it possible?
my husband helped set up the brooder lastnight
amd put the chicks in. late lastnight his eyes were bugging him so bad
and started swelling up. this morning it looks like he was in a fight in his sleep
w/o the black n blue. so could it be the chicks? nothing else in our house has
changed except adding them.

My DD's music teacher is allergic. She lives on a farm, has no problem with horses, pigs, etc. Cannot go into a coop.
My best friend is allergic to dogs, but not cats...

I certainly hope not for your sake. Perhaps it was something in the coop??????

There is a blood test that can determine if he is having an allergic response to birds. If he continues to have problems it might be worth getting.

I'd be inclined to look for something in the brooder - do you have any pine shavings in there? Any dust get stirred up?

Best wishes with this...

I have a dog that tested positive for allergies to feathers. Presumably the same can happen to humans.

I have 20 Silkies right now living on my covered back patio, until
I can get the coop finished, 2 dogs, 3 cats, and a lionhead rabbit.
I work for a veterinarian.
I am allergic to cats, dogs, birds, rabbits, ferrets, and guinea pigs.
At least that I know of.

I just take Benadryl when the symptoms get too bad, and just suffer
with it. I can't do without my animals
