Hello I adopted several roosters, they were used for fighting and I have nursed them back to health. But there is this one that they called a Warhorse I havent been able to find much information on him, he beautiful I would love to have a warhorse hen to have chickies. Any advise? Thank you. P.s. Always remember to smile

Post a photo for us to see or google Game birds and there are sites dedicated to games. You can probably find one that is close to the boy you have.

I saw one once, a Warhorse, a huge black rooster, very impressive. The reason I remember it is because one type was created by a Colonel Tom Bacon, which happens to be my husband's name and is called Bacon's Warhorse.

BACON WARHORSE: Originator, Col. Thomas Bacon, S. C., 1850’s. Bloodlines: Baltimore cock X John Stone Irish Gilder hens. Description: Black, black with lemon hackle and saddle, st. comb, dark legs, daw or hazel eyes.

Daw eyes are white, a reference to the Jackdaw:

I have a black rooster that my son-in-law says is a warhorse! I asked another BYC member about the breed warhorse and this is what I come to understand about them....
A warhorse rooster is a chicken whose parentage begins with a standard breed & game bird cross...in my case my rooster is a black giant or black orp who had a game bird father....my rooster has white in the tail feathers....
