Well... unless its sex lined or bred specially for feather sexing, the only way is to vent sex, and professionals with years of training can still get that wrong... Really, for the average person it is wait and look for secondary sex characteristics.

I'm no expert, there is always something to learn, and my birds are livestock, so... yes, I may be quite blunt. wink.png

Unfortunately yes. Unless it's a sex link you have to wait 8-12 weeks or so and see how the saddle feathers, comb and wattles are coming in. Even then it's a crapshoot sometimes. No sure way until they crow or lay!

I was blindsided myself just this morning when my 12 week old silkie "hen" Marsha began crowing! he

I have been wanting to say this for a while.  If it is a duckwing bird with no Db you can tell as early as three weeks by looking at the BREAST FEATHERS.  Males have black and females have salmon.

Mixed Longcrowers and Longtails.  GreY junglefowl Hybrids.
Just the coolest chickens ever.  That's all.
Pictures of some Bengals, scroll to the bottom after you click on the link;

Marsha is now Marshall.

ETA I love the name you gave my rooster! How is he doing?
