How much to feed Pekin ducks?

I have 3- 7week old Pekin ducks and was wondering how much should they be eating a day? They eat soooo much I wasn't sure if we are over feeding them or what.Any help is appreciated

Yep, they eat alot and all the time. I feed mine starter game feed and then all kinds of different veges, cut small. Lettuce and anything green are favorites. I also make them scrambled eggs when I make some myself. Silly, but they love 'em!
 
Ducks eat all the time. If they have grass and tasty weeds (and bugs) to munch on, they wont eat so much feed. I let mine free range in the back yard all day for this very reason
 
I leave mine access to feed at all times. Sometimes it seems they hardly touch it. Sometimes they eat like they have been starved for days. It all depends on what nutrients they got from their foraging, their growth spurts, whether or not they are growing new feathers, etc...

I would not try to micro-manage their food intake. Too many variables.
 
Our chickens have always had free choice to feed and didn't know if ducks could have the same as this is our first try with ducks.My next question is,what type of feeder do you have for your ducks? Right now I have a rcycled milk jug that I cut holes out of and does work except doesn't hold much.The large chicken feeders seems small for there bills to get to.Any ideas?
 
I just use a chicken feeder. I was worried about their bills too at first, but they have had no trouble getting feed. If it gets low it can be an issue, but my ducks solve this by tipping the whole thing over when it needs to be refilled

Haha! Yeah I'm sure there protesting to.(No feed! no eggs! Unfair!) I'll try out the chicken feeder then and see how it works out.Thank you for all your help! Our ducks are alot of fun and my kids just love them.Even my oldest who really don't care for animals will be out there trying to pet them

I have 8 Pekin ducks (4 hens & 4 drakes) about 18 months old. They have a half acre fenced back yard with 300 foot lake frontage to feed on algae and other nutrients. They usually remain under and around our pier but occasionally venture all over the 8 acre lake. We fed them crumbles to 3 months old, then switched to laying pellets. They loudly gather every evening near their regular feeding place, below our deck, where I toss pellets (6 oz per bird) on the ground where they aggressively eat every pellet. Then they routinely waddle back down to the lake where they spend every night in or near the water. We started with 10 ducks and lost 2 due to bumble-foot. We have enjoyed 8 healthy ducks for almost a year now since we began regulating food intake to prevent our ducks from being overweight.
