IA here

Hi I finally came over from ezboard.  I like this much better.  I'm west of Davenport.  We live in a subdivision in the country.  We have 60 some chickens, two goats, rabbits, guinea pigs, cats, a chinchilla, quail, dove and dogs.  Yes it is a regular petting zoo.  We are hoping to sell our house and move to my dream house.  On ezboard my name was luvofcats but now I'm momof3.  Hopefully more Iowa people will come over.

I'm Ro, from the Cedar Falls/Waterloo area.

I also live in town and have 12 chickens and my incubators runing at all times.  I was part of the Cedar Falls chicken controversy that supposedly landed us a mention on NPR last fall.

Amy-if you ever have extra chicks, you can offer them on freecycle and you can bet  that someone will take them.

So did everyone survive the storm?  Amy you will be so luck if freecycle lets you put animals on.  The one around me doesn't let you.   But I take my extras to a swap meet.  Only once did I come home with what I took and that was the bantam roosters.  We didn't have power for 49 hours. Thankfully we have a fireplace to keep warm.  Our neighbor had a generator hooked up to his well so we could get water for our animals.  It is amazing what this storm did.  A transformer broke off the top of the power pole and was in the ditch.  The way some things look you would of thought a tornado went through.  Halloweena you got to keep your chickens didn't you?  Or has the matter quieted down?  Hope everyone is staying warm and has power.

AH HA!!  some Iowans!  I'm in Boone.  Central Iowa.   Just got me some chickens after heaing the city will allow them but I have to obey all local cat and dog leash laws.  Not sure if I should laugh or what at what they said.  So I waited till I off the phone to laugh so they wouldn't change their minds.

Ok I'm just picturing you walking down the streets of Boone with your chickens on leashes.  Oops.  Maybe I shouldn't laugh.  Someone might actually being doing that.  My husbands uncle lives near Boone.  We have an offer on our house.  Now if only the house were trying to buy would get all the paperwork done.

Hi fellow Iowans!! I live right outside of Cedar Rapids, North of Fairfax. I don't have any chickens yet, I just got my incubator the other day. I plan on buying some eggs from Ebay. This will be my first time hatching and having chickens. I'm so excited. I've been doing a lot of reading. I've learned a lot from this backyard forum, it's great.

Hey All, I'm from just north or marshalltown. We got slammed with that darn ice storm, no power for 11 days. lost 6 hens during it. Might hit the Waverly swap!!
