Buffalo Gnats Killing Chickens?

If the chickens are confined and can't escape the torture of the persistent gnats they get very stressed and die of a heart attack.

Recently i have been told that my chickens had fowl pox but i now think it might be all the gnats that are killing my chickens. has anyone ever heard of this or know how to solve this? ive already lost 20 chickens please help me!

We lost 4 chickens and 2 rabbits to the gnats last night. One thing we found useful is vanilla. Mix some oil or extract with water in a spray bottle and spray it on the chickens. Our younger girls got it the worst. But after we sprayed them, the gnats literally vanished when we came to check on them minutes later.
