If the chickens are confined and can't escape the torture of the persistent gnats they get very stressed and die of a heart attack.

Lost 9 broilers in 24 hours.  Poor things.  The attack their eyes and nostrils like nobody's business.

Avatar is a "feathered" lobster from a very deep part of the ocean.
Currently Buckeye LF, BBS Ameraucana LF, Speckled Sussex LF, and the odd Delaware, Welsummer, Jaerhon, and/or Buff Brahma Bantam.  We want SQ Speckled Sussex LF, please contact me.

We lost 4 chickens and 2 rabbits to the gnats last night. One thing we found useful is vanilla. Mix some oil or extract with water in a spray bottle and spray it on the chickens. Our younger girls got it the worst. But after we sprayed them, the gnats literally vanished when we came to check on them minutes later.
