Lucky Husband

Yes, my husband is lucky.  He's lucky that I know I have no room for any chick and/ or chickens right now.  He's lucky that we were 4 and 1/2 hours away from home with shopping planned.   He's lucky I didn't listen to the evil little boy that was right there too. He's lucky that I didn't give in to our daughter's delight. Why is he lucky for all this stuff?  Well...

We spent the weekend up north at my folks' place.  On the way home we stopped at the local fleet supply store, as they had just moved into an old Walmart building and we hadn't been there yet.  We usually stop there anyway, because we have fun there.  Yes, we're weird.  big_smile

I went to the back to just see what the price was on some welded wire fencing for our dogs.  I found out they had chicks, goslings, baby pheasants, ducklings, and baby turkeys for sale there.  And they had two of the breeds of chicks that I would really like to get.  And on top of that, in case I didn't need anything besides the little devil on my shoulder with which to contend...

There was the little boy there.  He had to have been about seven or eight. He told me all about the different types of chicks and what color eggs they laid (it was written there too, but he was so funny...) and how to take care of them.  He was actually quite a knowledgeable little fellow.  And he told me that I would have time to get a coop made, if I could just find space in which to brood the little fluff balls.  I wonder how many people he's gotten addicted. tongue

I went back to where my husband and daughter were looking at the "wall of yellow" (Dewalt power tools).  I told him what I found and that our daughter had to see them.  She went crazy over them running around and kept peeping at them.  It was really cute.

We walked out of there with only buying two packs of nasturtium seeds and a bottle of pop.

Boy, is my husband one lucky guy!

Very lucky indeed.  Mine would not be so fortunate...he would get "the Look" then the sulk and then he'd say "Go ahead and get them honey".  gig

For me it was mostly the fact that I have no place to keep them right at the moment and the length of time it was going to take us to get home.  We stopped at a neat little Chinese place that we always stop at and we also went shopping on the way home.  So what is normally four and a half hours took us more like eight hours.  I'm still wondering if I made the right decision.

I have no chickens yet, and it was so incredibly tempting.  Argh!

My husband would flat out say "NO!" gig

My husband thinks I'm nuts!  2 DD's, 1 DS, 1 yellow lab, 1 kitty cat and lots of chickens! (RIR, Buff Orp, Black Star, 3 EE's, Delaware, Barred Rock, Blue Andulasian, Welsummer, Brown Leghorn bantam & a bantam mix!  That's a lot of chickens for an "under the radar" suburban backyard coop!

Your dh needs to spend an evening on BYC, just so he knows how lucky he is.  If you can get him to do this, I'm sure there will be flowers and chocolate in your near future.
