Will My Cracked Egg Still Hatch?

Pics
Yep i beleive it is Khaki campbell, its from 3 mixed eggs i bought as i didnt want to go mad with it being my 1st time, they were from a mixed flock of runners, swedish blue, aylesbury and KC, i know it may seem stupid only doing 3 eggs but felt it was best to start small.

Not stupid at all! Actually I think it is very smart. What happened to the other 2? (sorry, I haven't read this entire thread) I do hope you got at least one more... duckies like having buddies. I hatched 4 black Swedish a couple of months ago. Your baby sure has a beautiful chocolate color.

One of them give up early on and the other one quit while internally pipped, was gutted, i have put some small fluffy toys and a mirror in the brooder for now, is all i could think of, seems happy enough at the moment, just hope it doesnt effect him growing up.

Awww, I'm sorry for your loss. That's the biggest risk with setting a small number. I've heard that mirrors help. Maybe you can get another at TSC or somewhere. Craigslist? Are you planning to hatch any more? My ducks are a couple months old now, and I just hatched 10 lavender orpingtons last weekend. I only wanted about 6. Bought a dozen from a local gal. She threw in 6 extras, so I set 18. 14 made it to lockdown and 10 hatched. Now I can't part with any of them. LOL

Wow u hav loads, love the look of lavender orpingtons, funny you mention if im getting anymore, i ordered another 6 yesterday, is strange how theyre kind of addictive

He might have a "sticky" head. When they hatch sometimes the fluid from the egg will dry on to the down if the humidity isn't high enough. I've had it happen a couple of times to chicks that hatch late. You can carefully wash his head with warm water and dish soap.

I know right?! I keep looking at more eggs and more chicks and ducks, but really can't have any more yet!! Keep telling myself no no no no! Lol

I've had plenty of chicks with the fuzz all stuck to their heads... it is fairly common. It does wear off and they start looking normal after a while. It's kinda hard to wash out but if you do I would say warm water makes all the difference haha

Yeah might be an idea, dont think itd please him straight out the fridge, Will give it a bash,, dont think il go mad though, dont wanna stress the little fella
