Plants That Ducks WON'T Eat! (or chickens for that matter)

My runners have been trying to eat the lower branches of my Rose of Sharon trees. They are fairly mature trees but at the base we have shoots that show up every year. This year with the addition of the runners, we are not going to have to trim them back. Yay for one job that the duckies are doing that I don't have to do.

They have not been touching our new Hydrangea bushes and luckily they have stayed out of the garden where we have young beans, sunflowers, radishes, lettuce, spinach, pumpkins, gourds and squash. But I think that it is a matter of time before they find that buffet. Also there are a ton of worms in there.

Don't know about shade, some are planted in full sun and some are in pretty much full shade and both areas are growing. Also I know that the ducks have not touched them and they are planted between the Rose of Sharons.

I'm having the same problem. I have one Muscovy, one Khaki Campbell and a little rescued bantam hen. The Muscovy has been destroying my plants big time!! I am going to start putting out a salad buffet for him, see if that helps. He especially loves my day littles and succulents :/

I have found that none of them are touching my lavender!

Our Muscovies loved to eat cauliflower and broccoli ( we ended up fencing those beds), but never touched the peppers, tomatoes, strawberries, any of the vining plants ( gourds, cucumber, squashes, pumpkins), onions, root vegetables, or any of the flowers. We had mallards for three days before getting the Muscovies; they destroyed every plant they could reach. At the end of three days they were gone for good.

Try Kudzo. It is hardy and you may wish the little birdies would eat more of it to keep it tamed back.

Just don't tell anyone you planted it on purpose if neighbors start to complain about its appearance.

I have one Rose of Sharon bush, but it's not very big, so I don't know if I'd be able to put that in there. Does anyone know if English Ivy is tasty to ducks or chickens? I just got a whole bunch, that'd I'd love to plant back there if they won't eat it.
they will eat ivy! Tried that around my pond even put mesh over it and they found their way in, didn't last a week... :(
