Post your Pop Door (and lock) pics

Here is my pop door. I use an cord tied to an eye bolt on the door, then ran the cord through another eye bolt on a rafter to open and close from outside the run.  There is a loop knot in the cord that gets wrapped around a third eye bolt on the outside of the run to hold the door open. It works well, though I have been planning to replace the existing hinges with spring hinges too, hopefully soon.

I know this is an old post but this is the same pop door set up that i was planning on going with. I was even looking to put spring loaded hinges on it as well! My question are, did you try the spring hinges? Did they work well and do you remember what kind/brand they were or where you got them from? Thank for any help!

. We have decided on a up/down sliding door in a track, and are looking for pop door design and lock design ideas.

Thanks!!

I do not have a video nor have I actually made this locking device but If I were to build a locking mechanism I would employ permanent magnets to draw the locking bolts into position when the door came to rest.

I had lost my last four birds to a mink a couple of years back. Just this spring I bought five 8 week old birds and are doing well. I had forgot about the spring loaded hinges, thanks for reminding me! I'll let you know... monk

Lol! We all get a little off track sometimes! I'm sorry for your loss. I hope you fair better this time monk! I was thinking of also using a self closing latch at the bottom for added security but wondered if a spring load hinge would be enough deterrent to predators...

@KDK1
   I love this simple mechanism, it has stuck in my mind since I first saw it more than a year ago.....

....now I need a 'remote' latch so am going to apply it to a new pop door...not the powered part, just the latch.
aart I know you are still around because you have helped me recently. How did this hold up, and could I use it with an add a motor d20 do you think?
