I use a 3 or 4 drops of young living oregano oil in almost 5 gallons of water to worm my chickens... young living oils are therapeutic & most of them can be ingested... I take the oregano oil & thieves oil in capsules if I feel like I’m coming down with something and usually I won’t get sick .. I have rubbed young living lavender oil on chicken feet straight , not diluted to calm them down if I have to handle them , without a problem.. I have one that has most of the symptoms of being egg bound, soaking in warm water with Epsom salts, a couple of drops of lavender oil , copaiba, frankincense , and digize...
Not sure what the problem is with her but I pulled her out of the coop Friday night because he wasnt getting down to eat .. I thought she had a foot or leg problem because one leg was tight and the other seemed too relaxed .. I fed her scrambled egg and she didn’t eat any of it .. next morning I fed her laying mash and he didn’t eat so I brought her inside and she had a firm swollen abdomen & hadn’t eaten . I put her in warm Epsom salt water and she jut lay there.. I warmed the water up a couple of times for her because he acted like it felt good , then blowed her dry , trimmed the feathers on her butt so I could see what was going on & gave her an infusion of castor oil before I put her in a trough with shavings & warmed with a heat lamp ... she was in house for 3 hours and no pooping.. yesterday morning she felt better .. because I brought her on porch for a fellow chicken friend to see ... she just sat there a while ..then pooped white/with yellow tint and walked across the yard to talk to the Rooster.. I let her out in the yard today and when I came home to day her abdomen was swollen and firm again ... I read somewhere that it was good for them to exercise if they are egg bound, but I haven’t been able to feel a hard egg.. most of the ailments say she wouldn’t live this long if he had them.. so I’m not urs what is wrong with her... I believe in the young living essential oils so I will keep trying to doctor her ... it would be nice to know more about the problem so I could make a more knowledgeable choice on what oils to use to help her.
