My white bantam cochin pullet just laid her first egg at exactly 18 weeks to the day! Isn't that kinda early? It was a perfect little egg too. No first time oddballs for Sophia! big_smile.png

Hi, congrats about her first egg thumbsup.gif

just wondering at what age I can sex my little pekin chick (Pekins are pretty much the same as bantam cochins)

He / She has just turned 5 weeks old so I should be able to tell but I only hatched one pekin in this hatch so have no comparison,

I think it could be a girl---

Also, I'm selling one of this chicks older brothers, Should I be calling them Blue Pekins or Lavender Pekins?

Looks girly.

As for color they look lavender to me but the experts may say otherwise hide.gif And you can sell them as cochins, pekins are the same breed, pretty much like a gypsy vanner is the same a irish cob, just 2 different names (i think.. hide.gif) and just pekins are pekins and cochins are LF or bantams but you can call banties pekins

Cute little chick any wise thumbsup.gif

As Meredith is in the UK Pekin would be what they're called.

As for color she's not blue, she's lavender or self-blue  <--- same thing.

Oh yes, I'd say she's a girl wink.png

in europe they call it lavender, in the US it's self blue (and IMO too confusing with the OTHER blue for some).  and yes i'd say it's a pullet. my 2 5 week old self blues are both cockerels and the comb is VERY distinct.

A buff laced single combed Brahma to my Doerr GLCs.  All the birds pictured are heterozygous for dominant white.  I am not aiming for white laced red.
