I am curious to ask if you use the smooths from a frizzle mating?
or are you just breeding frizzle to frizzle?

the reason I ask is the feathers on the chicks look like they are narrow and tight
generally denoting frizzle to frizzle breeding

how long have you bred frizzles?

I bred frizzles Cochins  for several Decades and always used my smooths from a frizzle roo to smooth frizzle females
a smooth is the straight feathered chickens that comes out of the frizzle to smooth matings

this helps promote wider frizzled feathers and does away with the extreme frizzles

give me a email and will tell you more on frizzles

No i never knew of a show in gainesville. But almost 40 years ago my uncle used to take us to shows in Lawrenceville, Canton and a couple other places that they no longer have shows. Now we have them in Dalton, Jefferson, Newnan and Carrollton. I usally go to the Carolina shows and one in Tennesee.

Acually a buddy of mine gave me 2 females that came out of his partridge and he didn't like them or the partridge for throwing the wheatens and gave me both. It took me a while to get wheaten males but i did using partridge.

I love bantam cochins!  This is Charlie, the chicken of my heart, with his gal Chloe.  If I have a bad day, all I have to do is go out to the coop and watch him for awhile...his antics and "chicken talk" will put a smile on my face in no time!

Danny,  Your birds are stunning!  I love the Mottled blue bird.  I would absolutely love to get some eggs from her.  If you have any available any time at all.

This is a photo of  young Splash and Black and two blue from my friend in Indiana,  Shari McCollough.  I am thinking they are looking very promisinghttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v641/Knightchick/Bluecochins.jpg.

On the Black one,  I am not sure but it may be mottled.  Shari does have the mottled gene in one of her pens and this bird has white tips on the chest feathers and white in the feet.  I have only hatched out one group of mottled cochins and they had lots of white on the chest at this point so I am not sure what to expect with adult feathers.
