Thank you so much for the link, I will be sure to read through it. Anyone here have some nice blacks... ; ) Just have a trio of Lav Cochins at the moment, at least one hen is laying but just separated them into a pen by themselves so I doubt the eggs are pure yet.

Okay, so let me just get this straight. I hatch out some nice Black Cochins and breed the females to my Lav boy, and the roosters to my Lav girls? Correct?

I got a lovely pullet from Bo in December to cross with any Self- blue roos from these eggs. Talk about having to be patient!

I need to find the time to take and post pics!

Cochinman is very kind and helpful. He plans to have the Self-blues ready to submit in 2018 and I would love to b a part of the effort.

How awesome is that! Congrats! Do you have any pictures? I will be contacting him to get advice I'm sure. BYC is so awesome, and so are all of it's members! I truly love all the expert advice that is freely given! Thank y'all so much!!

If he doesn't molt I am planning on showing him, his father,  and a whole lot more Cochins at the CI Western National.

Craig,

I've been trying to upload your pictures for the past hour and can't get it to work. I have no idea why this is so difficult. I've been able get some of mine up, but every once in a while I run into one that won't work.

This picture loading is certainly NOT one of the better things about the format of BYC.

It came to me that every time I lose a dog, they take a piece of my heart with them, and every new dog who comes into my life, gifts me with a piece of theirs. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are."  - Cheryl Zuccaro

Can someone help me with identifying what color variation of Cochins I have?  I'm new to this and need some help.  They are almost 4 weeks old.

This first one is the black and tan one a Gold Laced?

photo (11).JPG

Sorry this one was hard to geta picture of!  The one I need identified is hiding to the left with orange, white, and black.  I'm stumped!

photo (12).JPG

And lastly, the one on the very right that is brown and white.  Is it partridge?  It certainly is the most friendly of the bunch!

photo (10).JPG

Thank you all for helping out the newbie!  I'm loving my Cochins so far!

Yes, you definitely have a Golden Laced in there!  The orange/white/black mixed ones are usually Mille Fleur/Calico projects.  I really can't see enough of the last one to give an opinion.  But what concerns me in the last picture is the totally bare leg/foot sticking out - that doesn't look like a Cochin leg to me.

Did you hatch these from a mixed lot of eggs?
