How gorgeous!  bow.gif

(why isn't the picture of that to-die-for chocolate rooster showing?)

Danny, do you have any hens or pullets you could show us photos of?

I wanted to put up an auction for my MFC eggs this weekend but I am already running 4 auctions. Tomorrow night my BLRW sale goes off so I may post them then and ship those out on Tuesday. My birds are laying so well now that my bators are full and I am taking a lot of hatching eggs to the food pantry for eating eggs. I prefer to be able to purchase that high dollar grain for them but I can only advertise so much. Of course, this isn't the only site I advertise on. But it has been the most successful.

Sadly, my incubator won't be empty until after the 24th.  I have a staggered hatch again.  Some are due the 24th and the rest are due the 29th.  You keep listing them when I have no place to put them.  You'd think with the 7 silkies, 3 cochins and the other 21 'occasionally broody' laying hens I'd have a broody already!  No.  They know I want them to sit one eggs and they are on strike.  Pretty soon I am going to put heating pads int he nest boxes.  See if that stirrs the hormones up... Mwhahaha!  -pictures extension cords running to 4 coops-

ok, here's an odd question maybe...  how old are your bantam pullets when they start to lay?  I have a few that look like they should be soon, but my older cochin hen has been successful in hiding hers ALL last year. i never did find them. think she might have shown them where she hid hers...

Welcome to the Zoo!  2 Morgans, 2 Minis, 1 Standard Poodle, 3 cats, 3 pet birds and the chickens.

Dorkings and bantam Cochins mostly, with a few others here and there.

And of course, my wonderful Hubby, who puts up with me and keeps me in check when I start to get crazy.

One started around 10 months and the other just turned a year and gave me her first... And not one since.  My buff Columbian gave me her first around 7-8 months and she's been laying everyday - except for the 27 days she was broody.

My 9wk old buff Columbian girls.    Their feet aren't very feathered, but I have Byron to fix that.

The one to the left is actually blue buff.  Those tail feathers are blue, not black.  The one on the right is kind of blue, too.

See?  Blue!

Now... I have a curious little boy.

I know that parents could have been blue Columbian and/or buff Columbian.

He is from the same pen as the two girls above.

I like him.  I think I am going to keep him just as a pet because I love his colors.

I don't just keep chickens because... Especially not boys.

So, what color would you call him?  His chest is white... I thought he was a blue Mille, but he didn't come from

those eggs and he has no white any place else.

I had a Lemon Blue and Lemon Blue Splash Cochin chicks hatch last night! They are so adorable! I want more of them already! :o)

Here's a picture of the chick that hatched first. The other egg was pipping when I took the picure.

I was very thrilled with them! I received 2 eggs from Heavenly Feathered Farms and I had 100% fertility and hatch!

Chickens - (Naked Necks, Easter Eggers, Ameraucanas, D'uccles, and others.)
Call Ducks - (Blue Bibbeds, Greys, Chocolates, Whites, Silvers, and Butterscotches.)
