Cochin Thread!!! - Page 919

Sounds like the chicks may have spraddle leg. That is a nonhereditary problem that can be fixed by taping their legs in the proper position. Band aids work very well for this problem.
The chick looks like it may be a Mottled, but what tells the tail is whether they have what looks like a tuxedo, darker body color and white bib all the way down the front and your other chicks have to be Blue if they are from a Splash/Black mating. The dark one just may be the Navy Blue that you are hoping for.

The one in the front is quite a bit darker... Is it still blue? And the rest are blue correct?

Now i think this one is a mottled. But the reason i am asking is because all the rest of my mottled chicks hatched with the same leg problems. They all have there legs sticking out in front and cant walk. Is it cuz they where pullet eggs?

It came to me that every time I lose a dog, they take a piece of my heart with them, and every new dog who comes into my life, gifts me with a piece of theirs. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are."  - Cheryl Zuccaro

(quick hint...  type out everything first, put the cursor on the line you want it to go on, and add it. but don't move the mouse or cursor until th pic is loaded or it'll jump to where the mouse/cursor is.)

Thank you for the help.

pullet eggs are prone to a lot more problems than regular eggs. you will need to watch these more closely and be ready to cull or treat problem birds

Amazingly yes. They adjust to it almost instantly and the earlier it is done to them the better. The reason I like band aides is the little gauze pad works almost perfectly as a spacer. Keep their legs taped up with that pad as a guide for how far apart their legs should be. Leave it on for a week or so if you get them really young, and longer if they were older when you did it.
