well, a laced LOOKS like a laced.  here's a pic of a chick from the same breeder (silver laced). at 4 weeks and at about 4 months old.

the lacing is usually pretty obvious.

Welcome to the Zoo!  2 Morgans, 2 Minis, 1 Standard Poodle, 3 cats, 3 pet birds and the chickens.

Dorkings and bantam Cochins mostly, with a few others here and there.

And of course, my wonderful Hubby, who puts up with me and keeps me in check when I start to get crazy.

A Mottled hen was Best Variety, Best of Breed and Best Featherleg.  Matt McCammon had Best of Variety and reserve Breed with a Black Cock bird. Shari had Reserve Black  with a pullet. She also had Best hen.  I had the Best Black Cockerel, 2nd best Black Cock bird and Black Hen. I didn't have any competition in Birchen, Columbian, Partridge so I got BV in those.

Did you enjoy the show? Wish I could have met you. I had a great time considering all the rain.

That makes sense. I think I will wait a few months before I sell it in case it is a good specimen. :)

thanks. i'm not a big fan of the silve laced, and am contemplating selling the pair.  yes they're pretty, but..  well, just but. i might try hatching some chicks to see what we get, but i really prefer solid color cochins, with the exception of the mille fleur project. and i only have 1 roo right now, with a mottled in the grow out pen to go with him unless something else shows up.  so i think my primary colors will be white, blue/black/splash, and black/self blue, and maybe some buff or red down the road.

       Congratulations!

I am glad you got home ok, Sorry to hear about the rain :(.

I did have a lot of fun! Your Birchen and Columbian were drool worthy!  I some how missed the Partridge hide.gif I think it was the excitement of all the birds, I was like  a kid in a candy store.   Pictures just do not do your birds justice, you have done a great job with them. I brought my mother who thinks I am crazy about chickens and I believe that I have her hooked now as well. :)

I wish we could have met too, that would have been Awesome :)

Glad you made it home safely.  I've been worried about everyone in the midwest - I hope everyone is safe.

Congrats on your wins, Craig!  And to Shari, Matt and everyone else as well!

I forgot to mention there were 60 Bantams in the open show and 5 Large fowl by 10 exhibitors. If Linda had been able to make it with the birds she had entered we would have had almost 75 Bantams. I did not get a count on the Jr. birds but can say that the quality of them was very good.. There is the  CI Western National show next weekend in Sedalia Missouri. I am sure we will see some very good birds there.
