I have a breeding pair of Pilgrims that were hatched out early this year in February. I have raised them since they were 4 days old. They are grown now and acting like hormone charged teenagers. Today while filling up their water tub, my goose got in and the gander followed and well, nature happens. I didn't think that they would start breeding until next laying season. My questions are these, is this normal behavior? is there a chance she will start laying this summer or fall? I realize that there is little chance that the eggs, if any will be fertile, so I don't plan to set any. I'm just confused by their behavior.

Yes, I do have a hodge-podge of mixed breeds. I also have Muscovy ducks, & Coturnix quail. And some mixed breed rabbits. All on a urban farm. Oh ya, I have a wonderful wife and 4 great daughters & 2 dogs.
