Tattoos - Page 2

I know about the price and size and all but it has an influence. What I mean is that the tattoo I got would have cost me around $50 if I were to get it at another shop. The shop I go to has $20 tuesdays and $30 thursdays. I asked about something and they said that if I wanted to they could do it bit by bit when I can afford it if I wanted a big one.

I want to get most of them where they could be covered by a shirt but I have a feeling I will have them all over before too long. The only downside is not being able to go swimming and all.

Does anyone know of any ways around not swimming? I am going to a huge party at the river this weekend and will want to go swimming. If I do what should I do about the tat? I got it Tuesday and it doesnt hurt or anything. The tattoo artist said no pools, hot tubs, saunas but nothing about lakes or anything like that.

Don't submerge it in water. No offense but I'm sure you knew about the party before you got the tattoo, you should've planned it a bit better.

If I would have known I wouldnt have gotten it this week. I didnt find out about the party until today, it was a last minute thing. I guess I will just have to get my feet wet and wait a couple weeks.

yeah, i don't think you would want to go in the lake.. um.. yuck.. esp with a new tattoo. why.. if you can't go into a pool or hot tub(which would be relatively cleaner than a lake) would you go into a lake?

i agree.. just get your feet wet for now.  sucks.. but it's the price you pay wink

Totally agree with horsejody...as the snowboarders say "Go big or go home"...te he

You really should just save up the money to go big. I have two tats & they are large, I am so glad I didn't go small because they are so cool & have so much detail. It's hard to get good detail in smaller tats.

As was said before.......just wait & save up. Any tat worth having is worth waiting for.

Cheers, just my 2 cents.

cool

I'm in the process of getting a very large piece that will eventually cover my entire back. It is my third tat.
Just so you know, the upper arm hurts way less than most other areas because it is fleshy and does not have a tremendous amount of nerve endings. Keep that in mind if you don't have a high pain threshhold. My 3 hour outlining session on wednesday was a real eye opener as I had not had any pain with my first two. Boy, was I shocked! I still have about another 3 hours of outline to go before shading can begin. I am estimating around 15 hours total in the piece to finish it.
I'm with the others though, go big! wink

Well I thought maybe chlorine had something to do with it. The care sheet I got said to wash with anti-bacterial soap 4 times a day and put some vitamin a &d/e? stuff on it for two weeks. So once the two weeks are up then could I go swimming and all that?

The next one I want will be maybe 4" or so and I am working on drawing it now. I am going through sites and books looking for just the right bird so I have tons and tons of books and pics laying around. I am going to combine the best of all of them. Now that I have so many pics to choose from I am thinking maybe more of a light brown leghorn color and similar type but I want it to have a longer tail and the bright slate legs of a phoenix. Maybe with more of a wild look to it. I am still debating.

You sooo need to post a pic of that!  pop

I've got 4 tattoos... and don't get me wrong, I love them all! I got them all when I was 18-19 years old.... but I kind of wish I'd waited a little longer to get them, or maybe thought it through some more. I'm getting married next spring, and I'm feeling a little bad about my large back tattoo being visible to all of my family, and my future husband's family. I just don't think it's appropriate at a wedding. Just something to keep in mind...
