How long will they live?

Yay! I'm so happy to hear that!

I don't know what I would do if my house ever caught on fire. We have so many pictures. After family and my pets the next things I would grab would be anything like pictures or heirlooms. I have a laptop, so that's not that much of a problem to grab that!

It's always a good idea to back stuff up on external hard drives. I bought one a year ago for $80. They are considerably cheaper now and are much easier to grab than an entire computer.

Right now I live in the New Jersey Pine lands and there are lots of fires. Most of them have been traced back to arsonists. It's truly a shame to hear of people doing such a thing. I don't think I could live with myself!

My family will be glad to hear about your great news. My DD was almost in tears when I told her and my DH about your predicament. We are keeping everyone your way in our prayers.

WOW, Im so happy for you.
I onced watched a fire go through my horse paddock after we evacuated them to a shorter grass paddock. I wasnt allowed in there to get her out, I just watched and she came running out after the smoke had cleared, so lucky.
I also had to evacuate as I said from this same paddock fire.
You throw a suitcase on the bed and just throw everything into it, photo albums, back up floppy disk, a couple of clothes, toothbrush,, that is all. then the pets into the car or trailer.
Not fun.
To everyone, back up your files so you can always have them incase of this!!!
Im so happy again for you fishkiller(hey, change your name to fishlover after this)
Have fun.

Fishkiller, your last post brought tears to my eyes. I'm so happy your birds are okay. We've all been praying for you. I think that's what saved your chickens!
Anyway, you gave us all something to think about, I know I'll be planning what to do with all my animals in case of an emergency. Although with hurricanes, at least we have a few days to prepare.
