What is Ladybird?

Thread Starter

Hello, I have a chicken, Ladybird's about 10-11 weeks old or so, she came with a group of New Hampshire Reds (they were all supposed to be NHRs); however, she is quite a bit smaller than the rest, and as you can hopefully see from the first set of pics, when compared with one of the larger NHRs, second picture, her comb and waddle are completely different. Any ideas of what she might be (p.s., she's decidedly smarter than any of my girls, she catches on to things much faster than the others).

Thanks for the help!

Well the top picture are New Hampshire Reds. Nice ones. The bottom looks like a Rhode Island Red Cockerel.

Black Leghorns- they are my main attention, White Leghorn,I still have a few Light Brown Leghorns, but am not going to breed them.I keep small flock GS Barred Rocks, small flock New Hampshire's and am starting to think about good SLW. I do not call myself Breeder- I am backyard chicken lover.

well, I've been assured by my chicken mentors locally -- and others here at backyardchickens -  that the bottom one is a girl, she is a NHR, she's about 16-18 weeks old, just about full-grown. I have a friend who has one NHR rooster a bit younger, maybe 14 weeks and he has ENORMOUS comb and waddle, plus that large rooster tail.
