One of my hens has poop all over her back end and is acting just like when I had one die from an egg getting stuck. The stuck egg ended in death after I helped remove the egg manually on the one hen.
Now this poor girl has apparently passed an egg, but it left her... inside out--for lack of a better term. Her intestine, er whatever is partially on the outside of her layin' hole.
I gloved up and tried to reduce it back into place with my finger, but it keeps falling back out like a prolapse. There is no egg in there. Is there anything that can be done at this point, or should I kill her to prevent suffering?
Also, if this means she will be unable to lay eggs long term, I have absolutely no interest in saving her...my hens must earn their keep. What saddens me is to lose a hen at prime age after feeding her all this time.
Any fix for this?
Thanks!
Poly
