Really funny looking chick...

I hatched out a chick from one of my own chickens, mainly to find out if I could.  I know that mama was a hatchery EE, pretty egg, so I thought I would hatch it.  I had no idea who daddy bird was.

Now I know.

As 'it' develops, it looks a little like an EE, with earmuffs--but it also has a really funny looking tophat.  So it HAS to be my awful Polish roo.  I guess I shouldn't knock him, poor guy, he has NO tail feathers after a fox encounter, and they never grew back, and I don't know how he survives, because I never see him eat or do anything but make my poor hens have no feathers on their backs.

I am going to have to, um, cull him and not keep ANY roos except those I specifically want for breeding.

Anway, this chick, and I hope it is a pullet but I can't tell, is really odd looking.

Yes.   I know.  I humbly apologize.

Ok.   Out I go to the coop with my camera.

And then I will come back in and see if I can figure out how to post.

RIGHT NOW I DO THIS.
