Green Mountain Organic vs. Poulin

Seeing as this thread got bumped to the top again, I will try to keep an eye out for new questions/comments. I haven't been very active here for a little while, but starting to get more time for questions and discussions about our feed.

As always, feel free to PM me as well!!

I have been wondering this as well, feeding my chickens Scratch and Peck organic and non-gmo feed ($40.99 for a 25# bag of chick starter). My chicks are still eating from the first bag and I was wondering, now that I have to get another soon, if it's worth staying organic.

I liked what you said about if we don't eat organic, why should they? I think that was good advice. It makes me feel better about maybe switching to a less expensive, but still wholesome (and as "natural" as possible) feed.

I have fed organic feed for almost 4 years now and my chickens do great! I stay away from any food that may have GMOs in it, including soy and corn. I'm switching to Green Mountain Feed's soy- free layer pellet because I've eliminated soy from my diet, which is NOT an easy thing to do! I do wish that we could get New Country Organics up here in Maine, as ALL of their feed is soy-free and they don't highly process their grains. I ferment my feed, so I don't mind if the grains are minimally processed. GreenmountainEric, any chance of Green Mountain doing a soy free minimally processed grower and layer feed? I would love a "Duck" feed also so I don't have to keep adding additional Niacin to my feeds. Check out New Country Organics to see what I'm talking about. ;-)
