Need Duraymcyin-10 dosage

I've seen this question come up here before, but don't recall what the answer was. I have a month old chick with an infected foot (not bumblefoot, it was caused by something else). I do not think this is going to heal on its own and want to put her on an antibiotic. I haven't used this form of tetracycline in the past, though, and I don't want to use it indistricriminately. I don't have a scale, nor can I get access to one, so I am looking for something in teaspoons (yes I know this is a bit imprecise). Can someone set me straight as far as the dosage? I'd sure appreciate it!
 
My Duramycin-10 package says to use between 200-800 mg per gallon of water depending on the ailment being treated. Does your package label help you decide on dosage? I was told to use the 800 mg per gallon dosage for my chickens with peridontitis. My vet told me to locate a gram scale, which I was not able to do, and a local pharmacist told me that just slightly more than 1/8 of a teaspoon is approximately 800 mg. It's tricky converting powders to teaspoons because if you pack the teaspoon, you are increasing the dosage. If the dosage was 400 mg per gallon the dosage would be just slightly more than 1/16 teaspoon.

For one chick, I'd try to get away with mixing up only 1/2 a gallon, because you have to give them new stuff everyday.

the duremycin won't hurt the chick
and give the amt for a gallon in just a qt
as the duramycin needs replaced every 8 hrs

generally it is 1 tsp per gallon


so try that and see if the chick gets okay

basically the injury is it open wound or just banged up??

what made you think it needs some medication?

I do know that the WHOLE package (181 grams) treats 100 gallons of water. Therefore, 1.8 grams will go in 1 gallon (1/100th). And 1.8 grams = .38 tsp or .063 oz. Is that the 200 or the 400 mg of tetra?

OK here's the actual dosage math for this brand at 10g per 6.4 ounce package.

OK according to this package, they want you to dose at about 500mg - 800mg per gallon of water for chickens. (http://www.durvet.com/L/119_L.pdf )
They state that the dosage will depend on the age of the bird (chicks get weaker strength), and how much they'll drink (birds that drink a lot get a little weaker strength).

10g = 10,000 mg. There are 10 grams in the package at 6.4 ounces.

Adults: 10,000 mg divided by 800mg = 12 doses per package. 12 doses = 6.4 ounces. 6.4/12 = 0.54 ounce per serving. We'll say 1/2 ounce per serving. 1/2 ounce = 3 teaspoons (kitchen measure spoon)
Babies: 10,000mg/800mg = 20 doses per package. 6.4 ounces/20 servings = 0.32 ounce per serving. 0.32 ounces = 2 teaspoons (kitchen measuring spoon).
