Crafters- What are you making??? - Page 3

Chistmas time is the time when I start to make cakes and cupcakes out of scrach and sometimes I like to make candles out of things I grow in my garden.

nccountrygirl -- the Holly Day Fair?  My son's girlfriend asked me about that this morning and I told her I wasn't sure.  I'm thinking SouthernChick told me she was going to a different one but I have forgotten which one she said.  Yes, it would be fun to meet you both too! Maybe we can stock up on Southern's soaps!  I did buy big loaves of peppermint soap one year and cut it into bars and made crochet washcloths to go with them for Christmas.  That make nice gifts and was pretty easy too.  Sounds like most folks here are cooking and baking their gifts, I may make this stuff a friend gave me the recipe for - 1 pound of white chocolate ; 2 cups fruit loops, 2 cups cheerios, 2 cups chex cereal, 2 cups m&m's, 2 cups small pretzels or pretzel pieces, 2 cups peanuts.  Melt that white chocolate and mix the other stuff with it in a big bowl --makes a great gift and is soooooo yummy!!

nccountrygirl -- let me know if you are going to a fayetteville crafts fair & the when and where!  Chickenboy --what kind of a candle would you make with garden items?

Srambled, SC will be Cumberland Co. Crown Center at the Agri-Expo Building   Friday and Sat. from 10:00- 6:00 and Sunday 12:00-5:00, it's the 32nd Annual Craftsman Christmas Festival, it sounds like fun. Hope to be able to meet you there.  Laura

Let me know if you are going to be there and I will make you and Southern a cd of 1 million recipes. It has any kind of recipe that you could imagine on it.

My dad used to drive over the nuts to dehull them.  I'm not saying anyone else should do it that way. 

Then we picked the nuts up, wearing rubber gloves.  I have hickory nuts in my yard, now.  I pretty much leave them for the squirrels, these days.  They're a lot more desperate to get the nut meats out of those tiny, hard shells than I am.  The hickory sticks my husband gathers to put on the grill sure gives a big, fat ribeye a fantastic smoky flavor, though!

Bad mount MissPrissy?  Are you kidding?  I would never bad mouth my hero!  She is one incredibly talented woman and I aspire to be like her!

We had a tree on my home farm where I grew up.  Daddy didn't like black walnuts but one year we did collect some of them. We put them all over the driveway so the cars would break them out of the hulls. Not real good for kids who like to track stuff in on their shoes. LOL

I am making baskets with homemade soaps.  I have just started soaping and realized that it is as addicting as chickens.  I have gone overboard and have made 9 different batches, trying all the recipes that look nice to me. 

ChickieDee:  Try collecting large perfect pinecones and decorating the tips of each (what do you call those things)..."petal" with colored glitter glue.  My kids did that one year and gave them to their grandmothers.  They make wonderful centerpieces.

The craft show sounds like a good idea and I am may go, *SouthernChick's soaps sound like great gifts!) I'll send you an email Laura later in the week --thanks for the recipe offer --MissPrissy sometimes leaves recipes on this board that I have tried --I love her egg bread --and that would make a nice Christmas gift too with some homeade jam! --hmm, may do that too!! I had forgotten how much I love soapmaking, too.  I have made far too many varieties. LOL People may be more than 3.

Scrambled egg - I am glad you like the egg bread. It is one of our favorites.
