Trying to give my chickens some Tylan 50. They are about 11wks old, ad probably a pound. The only needles I have are in cc.

Their are different amount for Swine & Cattle. I was going to go by the Swine 1, with says 4mg per pound of body weight

So how many cc's is this? 1/2 a cc, 1/4 a cc?

PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP, AS MY CHICKENS REALLY NEED THIS!

Someone suggested me using it, one of my chickens has something wrong with its eyes...their like infected (both of them now), and having nasal issues....and now another one of my chicks eye is getting bad

Unless you now what illness you are dealing with by having a bird tested and diagnosed just giving them meds is not a good idea. It could very well be something that the meds won't even help.

Well I have no idea what this could be! There are no 'chicken vets' around me...I don't know what else to do. The chicken had it in 1 eye, then it spread to both, now it can't see, they get crusted shut, and I've been cleaning them with Saline, and bought ointment for them today...the chick has diarrhea as well. Now I found another one of my chicks eyes starting to water, so another chick has it! I had them both in a cage together, so they won't spread it to any of my other chickens. I'm praying none already have it. I'm just trying to do whatever I can to help them. The chick with both eyes bad, is also having trouble breathing I think, and its restless....it keeps sleeping all day. Nose holes are crusty & snotty.

You need ....
Terramycin Ointment for their eyes. That will clear the crust! It is safe for the chickens too.

And you need Sulfadimethoxine Antibiotic to add to their water STAT!!!

Keep them confined just like your doing. If I were you I wouldn't even keep the sick ones in the same cage.

You can get both of those things at your local feed and seed!

Just my opinion.... I had the same symptoms with some of my birds and it worked for me!
Good Luck!!!!

My birds had the same symptoms and I used Tylan water soluable. Are you sure you have injectable? I don't know the dosage and unless you find out what it is tonight you have to start something in their water right away. Tylan water soluable is fantastic so is the other medication the poster 1 or 2 before me recommended.

I had the EXACT same issue with my pullets (one had the swollen closed eye and snot, the other bubbly eye and snot). I took one of them to an avian vet here in Raleigh, and I got (from them) terramycin ointment to put directly in the eye (for 10 days, twice a day) that was bad, and Tylan water soluble powder to add to their water. The only problem with this in relation to your stuff is that I don't know WHICH Tylan this is. They also gave me a syringe with no needle to measure it out. Here's the label instructions:

Add 20 grams (contents of bottle) to 760cc of water to make stock solution. Add 75cc of stock solution (this is where syringe comes in) to 1 gallon of water to fill water bowls daily. Use as only source of water for 10 days.

I will say that after 4 days or so, the eye that was really bad on one of the pullets is mostly back to normal, but of course, we are going the whole 10 days with the meds, no question. Hope this helps you out.

Yes it says you inject it into a muscle....its Tylan 50...says 1mg per 1/b of body weight...but I don't know what 1 mg is to cc's...I just did 4 on the 1/2cc...seems to have helped already. I tried to figure it out, and 3 or 4 is what I came up with...

I wish I could have found the one that goes in the water...but this one is for sure injectible...it has the injectable lid...its actually for Swine & Cattle. So do they sell Tylan for Poultry?
