cages for chickens

I know just what you mean about losing birds. Last summer we lost two meat birds on the way home from the county fair (about a 40 minute drive), and this past June lost two excellent Silkies on the way to a show three hours away, despite them being in good transport crates. Just too hot in the back of the truck. I was very upset about it.

I am working on a way to get more airflow into the bed of our truck. DH has put the kibosh on the idea of a heating/cooling system for the truck bed, and I'm pondering other ideas. One idea someone suggested was to take some dryer vent tubing, which is flexible, poke holes into it, and somehow rig it into the windows, draping it over and around the crates so air would circulate. I am also trying to figure out a way to do some sort of a turbine system attached to the topper of the truck, so that when the truck is moving air will be circulated (obviously, it would have to come off when it gets cold out!) Not sure how to do that though...

Our fair was short turkey cages last year so I looked to see how much they are. There are no prices listed on that site, I hate websites that do that.
