I'm one of those that uses poulty fencing wire for the coop floor. The birds are only in the coop to roost at night as I let them out at first light. They enter the coop and immediately get in the nesting boxes or hop on the perching rail, so they don't wander around the floor of the coop. When they do hop down in the morning, they land on the underlying 1x2's that support the floor.
