Coffee's ready... - Page 744

:caf  Happy Thanksgiving!

'Tom' is in the oven scheduled to make his entrance (or is that exit?) at 3 PM.  Casseroles are all set up for baking, and green beans are prepared for cooking, brown gravy mushrooms ready for thickening - I must be missing something.

'She' actually got in the kitchen yesterday while I was cooking.  What was 'She' thinking?  :rant

That's the handy part about Finnish xmas ham, you can cook it the day before since it's served cold. It must not be easy to time a gigantic turkey.

vehve, the whole planning/cooking/scheduling thing is sort of fun.  This is the first that I have cooked Thanksgiving in several years.  Lately we've been going to our daughter's or her in-laws.  Have to love the smell of a roasting turkey plus all the things to do with the carcass and leftovers.  :drool I could eat turkey on a daily basis.

I made my first ham last christmas, it was about 22 lbs, I think I had it in the oven for maybe 13 hours. It turned out great, I cooked it on a super low heat, about 180F.

Low temperature and longer cooking time is a good rule of thumb for roasting.
